Changelog
What changed in each SoundPipe release, from new features to performance fixes.
Every SoundPipe release, newest first. Updates arrive automatically through the in-app updater (SoundPipe menu, Check for Updates…), or grab the latest from the download page.
Faster updates and easier wire selection
- Updates that don't change the audio driver no longer reinstall it, so most updates skip the admin prompt and the brief system-audio pause.
- Routing wires are now selectable by clicking anywhere along the wire, not just at the ends.
Lower idle CPU
- Cut the app's idle CPU use from around 13% to around 3% by eliminating unnecessary window redraws.
A properly attributed background service
- The background service now appears under the SoundPipe name in System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions, instead of as an anonymous item.
- Documented where to find your license key after purchase, in the docs and the site FAQ.
Smoother audio under load, and licenses go on sale
- Audio no longer skips when the CPU is under heavy load: buffers now adapt to the conditions instead of assuming an idle machine.
- Volume changes apply instantly without restarting the audio path, so there's no glitch while you drag a slider.
- Dragging a volume slider no longer redraws the entire window, cutting CPU use during adjustments.
- If the trial runs out while audio is flowing, the app now opens to explain the noise overlay instead of leaving you guessing.
- Fixed the trial timer occasionally resetting after the background service restarted.
- Buying a license is now live on the site.
Meters that always move
- Output meters now move even when no app is actively listening to the device.
Capture fix for notarized builds
- Fixed hardware and microphone capture being silently denied in notarized builds.
License activation and these docs
- License keys now activate through a signed license service and keep working offline for 60 days at a time.
- Launched this documentation section.
First public releases
- Virtual audio devices, app and system audio capture, hardware routing and monitoring, per-channel volume, live meters, and the free trial.
